7th Phase Haritha Haram

A total of 19.91 crore saplings are targeted to be planted as part of the Seventh Phase of Telangana Haritha Haram programme for mass afforestation in the year 2021-22. A meeting by the State level monitoring and coordination committee for Haritha Haram reviewed the arrangements and preparations for the Seventh Phase.
  • 90 per cent of the target was achieved during 2020-21, by plantation of 27.31 crore saplings against the targeted 29.86 crore.
  • In line with the government’s target for one nursery per village, the total number of nurseries has reached 14,924.

About Haritha Haram programme
Telangana Ku Haritha Haram or Haritha Haram is a large-scale tree-planting program implemented by the Government of Telangana to increase the amount of tree cover in the state from 24% to 33%. The program was launched by Telangana Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao on 3 July 2015. It is one of the Telangana Flagship programmes to rejuvenate degraded forests, protecting these forests from threats such as smuggling, encroachment, fire and grazing. It adopted intensive soil and moisture conservation measures based on a watershed approach.
