Head Quarter : Vienna, Austria The International Atomic Energy Agency(IAEA) was created in response to the deep fears of diverse uses of nuclear technology. In 1957 the delegates to the First General Conference decided to establish the IAEA’s headquarters in Vienna, Austria. The IAEA has also two regional offices located in Toronto, Canada (since 1979) and Tokyo, Japan (since 1984). IAEA established independently of the United Nations through its own international treaty. The IAEA reports to both the United Nations General Assembly and Security Council. The IAEA Widely known as the world’s “Atoms for Peace and Development” organization within the United Nations family. The IAEA serves as an intergovernmental forum for scientific and technical co-operation in the peaceful use of nuclear technology and nuclear power worldwide.
