​EXAM PATTERN
Civil Services Examination  held by the Union Public Service Commission(UPSC) in  3 stages.The stages are:
  1. Preliminary Exam (objective)
  2. Main Exam (written)
  3. Interview (personality test)

​CIVIL SERVICE PRELIMS EXAM
​The preliminary examination consists of two papers consisting objective type or multiple choice questions:  
  • General Studies or Paper 1 and
  • Aptitude or Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) or Paper 2.

​​The GS paper has 100 questions carrying two marks each while the CSAT has 80 questions carrying 2.5 marks each. There is a penalty of 33% marks out of the allocated marks for every wrong answer. The CSAT paper (paper 2) is evaluated first and GS Paper or Paper 1 is evaluated only of those candidates who have qualified in Paper 2 or got 33% or 66 marks in CSAT. The candidates are shortlisted for the mains on the basis of their scores in paper 1.

  • Indian Economic.

  • Verbal & Non-Verbal Reasoning 

CIVIL SERVICE MAINS EXAM
​Paper-I :
Essay - 250 Marks - Candidates will be required to write an essay on a specific topic. 

Paper-II :
General Studies-I : 250Marks (Indian Heritage and Culture, History and Geography of the World and Society)

Paper-III
General Studies-II : 250 Marks (Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice and International relations)

PAPER-IV
General Studies-III : 250 Marks (Technology, Economic Development, Bio-diversity, Environment, Security and Disaster Management) Development, Bio diversity, Environment, Security and Disaster Management.

​Paper-V
General Studies-IV : 250 Marks (Ethics, Integrity and Aptitude)

Paper-VI
Optional Subject-I : 250 Marks 

Paper-VII
Optional Subject-II : 250 Marks 

                                                   Sub Total(Written Test Total) = 1750

​CIVIL SERVICE INTERVIEW
Civil Services Exam interview: 275 Marks
