'Dishani' and 'Garudastra' launched by Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL)

Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL)  launched two new products during Aero India- 2021 - the “Dishani” and “Garudastra”. 

• 'Garudastra' is an advanced anti-submarine self-guided state of the art homing torpedo being designed and developed by Naval Science & Technological Laboratory (NSTL), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) as the development partner. 
• 'Dishani', an expendable air-deployed Anti-submarine warfare (ASW) sonobuoy system being designed and developed by Naval Physical & Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) is the development partner for Dishani.

A modern torpedo is an underwater ranged weapon launched above or below the water surface, self-propelled towards a target.

Sonobuoy
It is a small equipment which can be detect a submarine.
