Tradtional New Year festivals are celebrated across the country in different ways, symbolising unity in diversity. These festivals mark the beginning of traditional New Year and reflect our country's composite culture and rich heritage. People of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana call it 'Ugadi', and in Karnataka, it is ‘Yugadi’. In Maharashtra, it is celebrated as ‘Gudi Padwa’, and in Tamil Nadu, it is observed as ‘Puthandu’. In Kerala celebrate the occasion as ‘Vishu’, Punjab sways to the festivities of ‘Vaisakhi’ and in Odisha, it is called ‘Pana Sankranthi’. In West Bengal, ‘Poila Boishakh’ ushers in the new year and in Assam, 'Bohag Bihu' marks the beginning of the new year. The names differ but the festive spirit suffused with joy, hope and togetherness remains the same.

Organized : Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre (ISLRTC) 3rd Edition of Indian Sign Language(ISL) launched virtually with 10,000 terms (including 6,000 earlier terms) on 17th February 2021 in a virtual programme. The 3rd edition of the ISL Dictionary contains total 10,000 terms of everyday use, academic terms, legal & administrative terms, medical terms, technical terms and agricultural terms. The Dictionary also contains regional signs used in different parts of the country. To promote the use of Indian Sign Language as educational mode for deaf students at primary, secondary and higher education levels. About Indian Sign Language(ISL) Dictionary The 1st edition of the ISL Dictionary was launched on 23rd March 2018 with 3000 terms and the 2nd edition with 6000 terms (including earlier 3000 terms) was launched on 27th February 2019. 3rd Edition of Indian Sign Language(ISL) with 10,000 terms (including 6,000 earlier terms) launched on 17th February 2021. The Dictionary has been brought out by the Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre (ISLRTC), an autonomous Institute under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment. Keeping in line with the Hon’ble Prime Minister's call Vocal4Local, TRIFED is organizing Aadi Mahotsav at Dilli Haat, New Delhi from February 1-15, 2021.With more than 200 stalls from across the country and about 1000 artisans participated, the Aadi Mahotsav, an annual tribal festival organised by TRIFED is a way to draw the Adivasis into the mainstream and give them a chance to display their unique and range of products to a larger audience.
About Aadi Mahotsav Organizer : Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED). The Aadi Mahotsav is an annual event that was started since 2017. The festival is an attempt to familiarise people with the rich and diverse craft, culture of tribal communities across the country, at one place. Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED) under the M/o Tribal Affairs, as the nodal agency working towards tribal empowerment, has been putting in place several initiatives that help in improving the income and livelihood of the tribal people, while preserving their way of life and tradition. The Aadi Mahotsav is one such initiative that helps enable the economic welfare of these communities and bring them closer towards mainstream development. The festival features the exhibition-cum-sale of tribal handicrafts, art, paintings, fabric, jewellery and much more through 200 stalls to showcase this. About 1000 tribal artisans and artists from across the country are participating in the festival. However, due to the pandemic, the 2020 edition of the festival could not be held. About Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED) TRIFED was established in August 1987 under the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act, 1984 by the Government of India as a National level Cooperative body. TRIFED is mandated to ringing about socio-economic development of tribals of the country by institutionalising the trade of Minor Forest Produce (MFP) & Surplus Agricultural Produce (SAP) collected/ cultivated by them. TRIFED plays the dual role of both a market developer and a service provider, empowering them with knowledge and tools to better their operations in a systematic, scientific manner and also assist them in developing their marketing approach.
