Shri Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana appointed as Chief Justice of India

The President of India, in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (2) of Article 124 of the Constitution of India, appointed Shri Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana as 48th Chief Justice of India. 
 
About Shri Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana
Born into a family of agriculturists in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. Previously, he was a Judge of Supreme Court of India, Chief Justice of Delhi High Court.

About Article 124(2)
Article 124(2) states that every judge of the Supreme Court shall be appointed by the President of India by warrant under his hand and seal after consultation with such of the judges of the Supreme Court and of the High Courts in the states.
