The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) on 7th May 2021 dispatched the Banganapalle mangoes in export consignment, which is a Geographical Indication (GI) registered product. The step was part of the Union government’s initiative to promote export of agricultural products having GI recognition.
About Banganapalle Mangoes
Banaganapalli Mangoes is a mango variety produced in Banaganapalle of Kurnool district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It was registered as one of the geographical indication from Andhra Pradesh on 3 May 2017, under horticultural products by Geographical Indication Registry.

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) is an Apex-Export Trade Promotion Active government body set up by the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry of the Government of India under the Agriculture and Processed Food products Export Development Authority. The Act was passed by Parliament in December 1985.
The programme titled ‘Enhancing climate resilience of India’s coastal communities’ is being funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF). Under this Programme the A.P Government have launched the works pertaining to the restoration of 5,000 hectares of mangrove cover in the Krishna and Godavari estuaries and 200 hectares of salt marshes as part of the five-year project of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).The landscapes are Telineelapuram bird migratory habitation (Srikakulam), Coringa Wildlife sanctuary (East Godavari), Krishna Wildlife Sanctuary and Bantumilli wetlands (Krishna), Pulicat Lake and Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary (Nellore).
